The first of the Membership Draws for 2002 was held in Joe Dan’s Pub on Saturday night last. The winners are as follows €500 Therese Sheerin, Loch Talt,  €300 Michael Henry, Rhue, €250 Rita Kelly, Letterkenny, €200 Tommy & Mary Marren, Dawros. Consolation prizes of €75 went to Sean Loftus, Aclare, James Goldrick,Gorterslin, Canon McLoughlin,Tourlestrane, Jerry Lundy,Rhue, Fr. Bernie Leheny,California, Brendan Leonard,Drimina, MiloMaye, Aclare, Matty Walsh, Stockport, Noel Manley, Aclare and John Gallagher, Aclare. The club would like to thank all those who once again supported the draw and look forward to the second draw at Christmas.

The new look jersey was also unveiled on Saturday last in Joe Dan’s Pub. The jersey, launched by new sponsor Paddy O’Hara of Paddy O’Hara’s Seamless Gutters includes the newly designed crest. Many thanks to Lorcan Brennan NT for his interpretation of St. Attracta’s Well which is the basis of the crest. Thanks also to Theresa Walsh of Embroidery Bliss, Rhue for the design and incscription.

Castlerock NS girls and boys footballers were successful in the first round of the Cumann na mBunscol 2 teacher section when they defeated Kilglass NS in Enniscrone. Kilmactigue NS was also successful in their defeat of Anaghmore NS

The senior team had a good win on Saturday evening last when a very young team travelled to Castleconnor in the winter league. With minors, seniors and hurlers away on County duty, the team was under strength but withstood the pressure of a committed Castleconnor side.

The Under 14 boys were defeated by Calry on Sunday last by a 1-point margin in the Feile competition.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the McKeown family, Coolrecuil, on the recent death of Margaret in Dublin. The funeral mass was held in Tourlestrane Church recently.

The first of the Membership draws for 2002  will be held on  Saturday March 23rd in Joe Dan’s Pub. First prize is €500 and a prize fund of €2,000 will be drawn on the night. Senior League medals will be presented on the night. The new look jerseys sponsored by PaddyO’Hara Seamless Gutters will be on display as will the new Tourlestrane crest. Vendors should return unsold tickets and any monies to Austin Walsh as soon as possible.

A presentation Night for the Under 14 Girls Championship winners and the boys Under 14 League winners will be held during the Easter Holidays. Further details as they come to hand.

The indoor hurling league for national school children of the parish continues on Friday evenings at 7-8pm for 1st 2nd and 3rd classes and from 8-9pm for 4th 5th and 6th classes in Banada Abbey Hall. Parental supervision is also encouraged

Under 16 training continues on Friday evenings at 6:00pm in the old pitch.

A speedy recovery is wished to Shane O’Hara who is recovering at present after an operation.

The club was shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of Mrs. Helena Brennan, Drumartin and her baby daughter Helena, last week. Deepest sympathy is extended to her husband Michael James, and sons Raymond, Michael, Dermot, Kieran, Bernard and Shane.

Congratulations to the Sligo senior squad on their 1-point defeat of Derry on Sunday last. Gerry McGowan made a noted contribution to this result after missing the league match versus Mayo. He was exonerated by the GAC early in the week for an incident that occurred in the Down match 2 weeks ago.

The best of luck is wished to senior player Brendan Egan who has gone to America to further his studies.

A speedy recovery is wished to Under 12 player Colin Gilligan who is recovering at present after a short hospitalisation. Also a speedy recovery is wished to senior player Matt Walsh who was injured during training recently.

The Canon McLoughlin Cup, awarded for the parish football league, has been missing for a number of months. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the cup, please return it to any club officer.

Bingo continues on Tuesdays at 8:30pm. The in-house Lotto now stands at €1,360 and the Jackpot is €2,340. Your support is, as always, appreciated.
